LAMBA is commencing fundraising for completion of the singletrack trail system for bikers, trail runners and hikers, to run parallel along the length of the Sac and Fox multi-use trail. This new 4.8 miles of trail will be added to the existing 2.7 miles of singletrack, which connects Prairie Park Fishery to Indian Creek Nature Center.  The next three phases will connect the Indian Creek Nature Center to East Post Road.

Key objectives of the new Sac and Fox Singletrack are:

  • Appeal to a wide spectrum of users: from families and beginners to individuals with advanced skills and fitness levels.
  • Be both environmentally and socially sustainable.
  • Complement existing park infrastructure, blending with the existing multi-use trail while maintaining and highlighting the natural beauty of the Indian Creek and Cedar River corridors.
  • Foster Cedar Rapids recovery from the derecho by enhancing the existing park system.

We are pleased to share that the Hall-Perrine Foundation has generously agreed to match, dollar for dollar, funding up to $65,000 towards the construction of the new trails.  Additionally, the Linn County Trails Association has been instrumental to the projects commencement with a $25,000 contribution.

LAMBA is excited to create more of this high quality trail experience, allowing  Cedar Rapids to enjoy one of the longest linear singletrack trails in the state of Iowa.

A great big thank you to all who have supported LAMBA, continue to support LAMBA, and those who keep on supporting us as we work through these exciting projects. Here’s to great riding!

Fundraising for trails is and ongoing process and LAMBA is always accepting tax-deductible donations to help support new singletrack. Click our Donate page if you want to help fund Linn County singletrack!
